A journal, Again.
I never really got in the habit of keeping a blog or regularly posting to the socials. But, I keep journals pretty consistently, and have maybe thousands of pages of notes total. I’m in the midst of transitioning from Notebook #35 (which, to be fair, is a 15-volume thingy, but not that complete) to Notebook #36, and I’m realizing that a lot more of my content is being recorded digitally.
My challenge to myself is to write a small, but meaningful post every day for the rest of the year. My rules are that it has to be:
-
At least 250 words, or 200 words and one image
-
Somewhat meaningful. That means it’s not fair to complain that I have nothing to write about. Worst case, it can be a rant about something.
-
Broadly available. I can easily write 250 words about the latest bad idea from work, but that would be covered by the NDA. (Also, I am going to argue that general thoughts about things like Deterrence Theory are not covered under NDA.)
-
Content can either be on the main site (here) or on the floating world.
-
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, content must be posted.1
I have a few small projects in R that I want to get done this month, so I think that will be an area of writing for me. I also want to get my thoughts in order about where I think Deterennce Theory fits in with an overall approach to recidivism.

I’m going to give myself a one-week grace to this so that I can figure out how to actually get things set up, as well as figure out a theme for the floating world site ↩
